June 16 Devotional: Joshua 24:15-17

Dear Family,

Greetings of peace and love from the Father and our Lord Jesus Christ.

It is my joy to start our online family devotions that will bind us as a family to God’s love and purposes that He has for us as His servants.

This devotion will serve as our guide and reminder that we bought with the precious blood of Jesus and that we are passing by only on this earth.

Let us all enjoy the wonderful privilege as God’s children John 1:12 , so that we can effectively share this treasure to those who do not know Him yet.

Let us start with
Josh. 24:15 And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the LORD, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”
Josh. 24:16 Then the people answered, “Far be it from us that we should forsake the LORD to serve other gods,
Josh. 24:17 for it is the LORD our God who brought us and our fathers up from the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery, and who did those great signs in our sight and preserved us in all the way that we went, and among all the
peoples through whom we passed.

Principles or truth from the passage:
1. Reflect and decision to stay away from other gods and choose to serve God Josh 24:15 But as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.”
After conquering the promised land, the Israelites allowed the former inhabitants to co-habitat with them in the promised land, they built their gods and served their gods, just like us today, we are in this world but not of this world,
Our lives must be guided by His grace and choose not to serve other gods, but the True God alone.
As your head, father and friend, it is my responsibility to lead you into this decision, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord

2. Response from the family and others Josh. 24:16 Then the people answered, “Far be it from us that we should forsake the LORD to serve other gods,
After Joshua and his family made a decision to serve the Lord, it served as an example also for others, as leaders, our choices have great influence on others. This is a wonderful privilege as well as a responsibility…..
When God called us to the ministry, this is such a tremendous blessing…..Could you think of other vocation that you dad has pursued other than what the Lord has prepared for me? : ) I am so glad that he called us and others are making the same decision……
3. Remember the great deliverance of the Lord Josh. 24:17 for it is the LORD our God who brought us and our fathers up from the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery, and who did those great signs in our sight and preserved us in all the way that we went, and among all the
peoples through whom we passed.
When the Israelites were about to leave Egypt, the Lord told them to put blood on the door posts of their houses so that
when the the angel of death pass by, they will be spared from God’s judgment and their first born would not die.
They were also to eat unleavened bread.
What are the significance of these two actions?
1. Passover – speaks of God’s blessed salvation through the blood of Jesus Christ!
Let us never forget what the Lord has done for us
2. Feast of the unleavened, which is observed for 7 days, speaks of living our lives free from the stain of sin in our lives
daily by His grace….. Paul talks about this in the book of Corinthians, that a little leaven leavens the whole lump of
bread.

Again, salvation leads to Holy living,

My beloved family, let us thank God for calling us out of darkness into His marvelous light to proclaim His praises and
the great privilege to serve the Lord.

God bless you more,
Dad Joedy
