December 12 – 18 Devotionals: Sharing the Reason for the Season

Back home, when the “ber” months set in, we begin to see familiar sights everywhere: Christmas decors, lights , lanterns , trees etc. just to ” brighten up the season”, a common sight would be children going house to house caroling, amusingly, they’re willing to risk being scolded just to receive simple gifts like candies or few coins, but sadly, most of these kids don’t really know what Christmas is all about. It seems like modern man have drifted away from the true essence of Christmas , this week let us focus and pray that the whole world may hear and understand the true message of Christmas , the reason for the season. God’s gift to mankind, Jesus!

Day 1 Good news : But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. Luke 2:10, 11
Christmas is about good news that a Savior was born, pray that people all over the world will hear that there is hope for sinners, many still have not heard the good news, news needs to be declared, pray that God’s people will take this opportune time to share the good news.

Day 2 The Sign :This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.” Luke 2:12
Christmas is God’s sign of love, just as a gift is given as a sign of love, let us pray that as people go around and see the display of the baby Jesus that they maybe enlightened about the gift of God.

Day 3 Praise : Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, Luke 2:13
Christmas also is a time to give praise to God, because of His faithfulness in fulfilling His promise many years ago. Let us pray that people may focus more on praising God and giving Him honor for His faithfulness and goodness to mankind. No matter what we have or do not have during this Christmas, He is worthy of our praise!

Day 4 God’s favor : “Glory to God in the highest heaven,
and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.” Luke 2:14
Pray that people may realize that Christmas is indeed one of the most favorable time of the year, because we remember that God’s undeserved favor was poured out on mankind, finally mankind can have peace with God….pray for friends and loved ones who have not yet known this peace receive God’s favor one day

Day 5 Faith: When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.” Luke 2:15
Let us pray that Christian families will find time amidst the busyness of the season to renew their faith as they reflect on the words of God.
Let us also pray that Christian families may renew their commitment to a closer relationship with God and see Him daily in prayer.

Day 6 Evangelism: When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, Luke 2: 17
Spread the word! Let us pray that Christians all over the world will share the most beautiful , wonderful , important life giving and life changing message of all, Christmas is Jesus Christ, born to die for the sons of the world. Pray that the whole world may hear the word.

Day 7 Fruit of the Christmas message: and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. Luke 2: 18
Pray for those who have heard the message that they will all respond positively and be amazed by the love of God, pray that the Lord will open their hearts and minds. One of the most beautiful gifts we can give this Christmas is joy to the Father’s heart when they accept Christ.
